November Summary of the KTNet Africa Theme Based Blogs. By Angela Kisakye

Have you ever imagined how critical communities are in ensuring quality of care for in health service delivery?  For the month of November, we were privileged to read from the CoHeRe team based in Ghana about the importance of balancing the client-perceived quality and the technical quality of care in health services delivery.
 
Involving clients in monitoring contracted health facilities and awarding best performing facilities was one strategy that CoHeRe used to realize the balance between client-perceived quality and technical quality of care. Read on here for the full article .  
 
Dr. Georges Nsengiyumva about the stages at which community engagement is most successful during policy or program implementation. It was very enlightening to understand the different levels of community involvement and these were  broken down into information, consultation, participation, collaboration and empowerment. In another blog Dr. Sophie Goyet passionately shared with us a declaration from WHO about the right to dignified and respectful care during pregnancy and childbirth for all women. She went on to elaborate on the difficulties that women go through during pregnancy and childbirth and proposed ways in which all of us can be involved to ensure that women are treated justly during pregnancy or childbirth. 
 
For the month of December, we will read from our bloggers based in Uganda and Senegal and the topics will center around health financing, Maternal Child Health  and community engagement.
