Assoc.Prof Elizeus Rutebemberwa

Dr. Elizeus Rutebemberwa is an Associate Professor of Health systems management in the Department of Health Policy, Planning and Management at Makerere University School of Public Health. Before joining university service, he worked as a medical officer and hospital director in one of the rural districts in Uganda. He was involved in implementing the decentralization policy and was one of the first Health Sub-District Directors when the policy had just been implemented. At the School of Public Health, he has worked as a consultant for WHO, EU, USAID, CDC, Ministry of Health and other national and international organizations. He has coordinated district based research for many years and has been involved in action research on how information from research is translated into policy and practice. He has worked on systematic reviews on human resources for health and on formulating SUPPORT summaries for policy makers. Currently he is working on interventions to increase access and coverage of health services for acute illnesses like malaria and pneumonia, chronic illnesses like diabetes and zoonotic diseases like brucellosis at institutional and household level.
